Our fullblood black Shire colt Duke was born May 2, 2004. His Sire is the amazing Aldershire Govner, an 18 hand Shire stallion owned by Barney Shires. Govner has a wonderful calm nature combined with amazing action and tons of hair. He is used extensively in show hitches with mares and geldings. Duke's dam is our 17.3 hand Shire mare Wanda-mere Miss Lilly. Lilly is an extraordinary mare, with a pedigree that includes the great Edingale Mascot. She is a wonderful example of her breed - calm and willing and powerful.
Duke is a tremendous colt. He is black with two and 1/2 whites and a nice blaze and he already has tons of feather like his father. Duke is going to be very large - he should reach 18 hands when he is done growing. He is a real attention getter with his graceful and powerful movement. Duke will make a good stallion candidate and he will excel in driving, jumping, or even dressage.
